National Award
The East Texas AHEC Program, which Pecan Valley AHEC is one of nine regional centers within the program, received this year's Eugene S. Mayer Program of Excellence Award at the 2008 National AHEC Organization (NAO) Conference. The Eugene S. Mayer Award is one of the highest awards given by NAO. The conference took place in Denver, Colorado from June 27 - July 1.

Memory Care Conference
We had an excellent turnout at the Memory Care Conference. The conference was held at the Victoria College on Friday, March 5, 2010. The speaker of the conference, Victoria K. Salter M.A., informed participants how to identify physical characteristics and behavioral aspects of the different types of Dementia. Ms. Salter also described coping techniques for healthcare professionals and family member or care givers of the client with memory loss.
