It is with great enthusiasm we celebrate ten years of service. What began as a concept in 1994 has truly exceeded all our hopes, wishes, and dreams. Pecan Valley AHEC is a community-based program that works to attract and retain more health care workers within a fourteen county serve area. In the past ten years, Pecan Valley AHEC has impacted your community in the following ways.
Exposed over 90,000 elementary, junior high and high school students to health career opportunities.
Coordinated over 1,100 clinical rotations with local health practitioners.
Provided continuing education to over 8,000 health practitioners.
Also, Pecan Valley AHEC has initiated a number of community projects, including the development of coalitions to focus on the prevention of childhood obesity and teen suicide.
Our communities have invested in their future workforce by working with Pecan Valley AHEC and the academic partners. Through the support of the communities we have received just under one million dollars of in-kind support during the past ten years.
We would like to extend a sincere appreciation to all the communities and partners who made this program a reality and the success that we celebrate today.
