The Community

Victoria, the “Crossroads of South Texas,” is located less than two hours from four of the largest cities in Texas. Picture a square with Houston, Austin, San Antonio, and Corpus Christi at the corners and Victoria placed in the middle. Victoria County has a population of 84,000 with close to 60,000 people living in the city. Victoria is a resource-rich medical community with two full-service hospitals on three campuses with over 685 beds.
DeTar Healthcare System – the DeTar Healthcare System has two hospitals: DeTar Hospital Navarro and DeTar Hospital North. The hospitals specialize in women’s services, pediatrics, and laser surgery.
Outdoor Recreation
Victoria has a big, beautiful park that runs along the Guadalupe River with a biking trail, a 27-hole public golf course, volleyball area, baseball field, duck pond, rose garden and an abundance of picnic tables and barbecue pits. Also located in Victoria is the Texas Zoo, home to animals native to Texas. Victoria is less than an hour away from several Texas beaches including Port Aransas and Magnolia. If fishing or skiing is your favorite pastime, your choices include Coleto Creek Reservoir, Lake Texana, Saxet Lake or Port O’ Connor.
Night life
Victoria has a wide range of establishments for nighttime fun: 205 Martini Bar, Downtown Grill Restaurant, The Roadhouse Restaurant, Chili’s Restaurant, and Johnny Carinos’ Restaurant to name a few. There are also a few smaller establishments under thirty miles away including Schroeder Dance Hall in Schroeder, Texas and more. If you prefer “big city” nightlife, Austin, San Antonio, Corpus Christi and Houston are only two hours away.
The Housing
